Online Database + Storage >>

.: Moshi-moshi.

And now this is about online database storage.. or online storage database.. or.. ok, my English is not that good. Forgive me. i've been reading a lot of English books, watching a lot of movies or sing a lot of songs, but my English level is not nearly perfection..

ok, time to move on. After doing my quick research, the proper way to address that service is *File Hosting Service*. Well, according to my dear Wiki: "A file hosting service, online file storage service, or online media center is an Internet hosting service specifically designed to host static content, typically large files that are not web pages. Typically they allow web and FTP access. They can be optimized for serving many users (as is implied by the term "hosting") or be optimized for single-user storage (as is implied by the term "storage"). Related services are video sharing, virtual storage and remote backup."

Well, the reason behind all this is i want to share my own experience using this service. Right in the middle of something, (where i am 'lost' for what-is-the-exactly-i-want-to-do syndrome) i suddenly need to use the online storage.. err.. the file hosting service. And after searching it in my beloved Google, i end up using altogether three of them. (too much ehh?)

4Shared : the GUI is attractive, like i was opening my windows explorer. Need registration.

ZShare : the simplest GUI. But remember to save the page of your uploaded file, especially the code to your file - this site do not requires any registration.

ESnips : i was quite 'lost' *again* when trying to find out where is the link to my uploaded file.. Well, the service is good, and registration is a must.

Below is my lists of free file hosting service, FHS i've found so far. Maybe you guys can leave a comment or suggestion which FHS is better.

First and foremost,

MegaUpload : The Legendary FHS

RapidShare : The Legendary FHS

Followed by..

3.file.am

Badongo

BigUpload

Box.net

FileCrunch

FileDen

FileFactory

FreeWebSpace : lists all free file hosting service on the Net

MassMirror

MediaFire

MomUpload

SaveFile

SendSpace

SnapDrive

TurboUpload

WooFiles

Ziddu

Huh, this is quite a list. While searching for it and scanning the site and filtering the good site and the not-that-good site and lastly posting it here. Cannot be considered as hard work yet - no brief summary is given for the site by me..

How to Celebrate Earth Day

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

The celebration of Earth Day on April 22nd began in the United States in 1970 and was the brainchild of Senator Gaylord Nelson, who had long pondered about finding a way to "put the environment into the political 'limelight' once and for all" (his words). There are actually two Earth Day celebrations (the other one is held in March on the equinox, see "Tips") but this article focuses on the April 22 Earth Day, which is now celebrated in most countries of the world. Earth Day is a perfect time to reflect about what you are doing to help protect the environment. There are many ways that you can celebrate alone and with others.

Steps

  1. Plant trees. As the date also roughly coincides with US Arbor Day, over time Earth Day has taken on the role of tree-planting. Planting trees helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, clean pollution, secure soil in place to prevent erosion, and provide homes for a lot of biodiversity.
  2. Make nature crafts at school or home. Get together with your family and build a birdhouse or make a bird feeder to encourage the local bird population, which plays an important role in every ecosystem. Use objects that would've otherwise been thrown away to create beautiful works of art...Here, the possibilities are endless:

  3. Learn more about the environment. Earth Day is a good time to make a commitment to learning more about the environment and how you can help to protect it. Borrow some library books and read up on an issue such as pollution, endangered species, water shortages, recycling, and climate change. Or, learn about a region you've never considered before, like the Arctic, the deserts, or the rainforests. Think about the issues that concern you the most and if you haven't done so already, join a local group that undertakes activities to help protect the environment in your area.
  4. Reduce, reuse and recycle all day long. Buy as little as possible and avoid items that come in lots of packaging. Support local growers and producers of food and products - these don't have to travel as far and so reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Take your drink container with you, and don't use any disposable plates or cutlery. Recycle all the things you do use for the day or find other uses for things that you no longer use. Carry a cloth bag for carrying things in and recycle your plastic bags.
  5. Get children to recycle their old toys and games. By giving their old toys and games to younger children who could make use of them, older children learn two lessons: One is about giving to others and the second is about reusing and recycling instead of throwing things away. Adults can also do this with clothes, electrical items, books and more. Learn about product exchange communities like Freecycle and other alternatives.
  6. Rid Litter Rid litter from our roadways. Many groups use the weekend of Earth Day to clear roadways, highways and neighborhood streets of litter that has accumulated since the last clean-up day. Many companies donate gloves and bags for clean-up groups and villages organize bag pick ups. Once the group has collected the trash and placed the recycled bags along the road, get the village public works department to pick the bags up. It's a wonderful community project. Great for scout troops, rotary clubs and the like.
  7. Sing or listen to "Earth" songs. There are many Earth Day song lyrics available on the Internet. Many follow well-known tunes. These make a fantastic classroom activity and help younger children to become interested in environmental topics. For listening, even iTunes has songs about the Earth for downloading: try searching for words such as "planet", "Earth", "endangered", "pollution" etc.
  8. Hold an Earth Day fair. Maybe your school, your street, your local neighborhood is interested in getting together to have an environmental fair. Things to have at the fair include demonstrations of environmentally-friendly products, children's artwork, healthy/locally grown foods to eat, animal care demonstrations (including wildlife rescue), games for the children made of recycled products, musicians and actors performing environmental music and skits, stalls which are recycling unwanted treasures and books, local environmental organisations presenting their issues and wares. Money raised can go towards a local environmental restoration project or to an environmental group agreed upon by all the participants running the fair.
  9. Teach others about the environment. Teachers, professionals, students, in fact anyone who cares about the environment and is willing to teach others, can all provide environmental lessons for others. Most schools already celebrate Earth Day in the classrooms with activities but there are many other ways you can teach about the environment. For example, give a speech at your local library on how to compost with worms; take a group of children down to the recycling center to show them how things are recycled; recite nature poems in the park; offer to teach your office colleagues how to make environmentally-friendly choices at work during one lunch hour. Everyone has environmental knowledge they can share with others.
  10. Wear green and/or brown. Dress in environmental colors for the day; think "tree"! Wear badges if you have them that carry pithy summaries of your environmental views.
  11. Engage others in conversations about your environmental concerns. Don't be bossy or pushy, just tell people some facts and then explain your feelings about them. Encourage them to respond and if they have no opinions or they seem to not know much, help them learn some more by imparting your environmental knowledge in a friendly and helpful manner.
  12. Cook a special Earth Day meal. Plan a menu that uses locally produced foods, is healthy and has minimal impact on the environment. Favour vegetable and bean products, as these use less resources to grow than mass-farmed meat. If you still would like meat, look for locally produced, organic meat. Try and have organic food completely. Decorate the table with recycled decorations made by you and your friends.
  13. Consider buying a carbon offset to make up for the greenhouse gas emissions you create on the other 364 days of the year. Carbon offsets fund reductions in greenhouse gas emissions through projects such as wind farms, that displaces energy from fossil fuels.
  14. Ride your bike. Use your bicycle or other forms of human powered transportation to commute to work or school and to run errands.
  15. Remember: Every day is Earth Day. Anything to help our environment is a perfect thing to do on Earth Day and every day. Don't restrict yourself to just one day a year; learn about how you can make a difference to environmental protection all the time. And put it into practice - every day!

Tips

  • The other Earth Day is celebrated usually on March 21, which is the equinox for spring in the Northern Hemisphere and for autumn in the Southern Hemisphere. This Earth Day is supported by the United Nations and the Japanese Peace Bell is rung at the New York United Nations to remind everyone of our place in the human family on our precious planet Earth. See International Earth Day Official Site for further information.
  • Simple things, such as asking young children to use less paper to dry their hands or asking work colleagues to turn the lights off when they leave the office at night are great "small starters" to encourage bigger changes. You don't need to feel that you haven't time to contribute; every little changed habit that benefits the environment adds up and you are setting a good example to others.
  • Use the internet for many more ideas. Earth Day is celebrated in many different ways. A really good way to find more information is to surf the internet and look at what other people have done. There is so much there that it cannot be replicated here!

Warnings

  • Cleaning up part of your local area can be a great way to celebrate Earth Day, but make sure all participants are properly attired or outfitted. Gloves are an absolute must and if you are collecting litter, sticks with prongs for picking it up are useful. Warn participants to be careful of sticking their fingers into dark places where biting animals might reside and to be careful of syringes and other dangerous items.

Happy belated Earth World Day! >>

.: Moshi-moshi!

i encountered this special day when i was reading our local newspaper on 'that' day. i never know such an action was so powerfully beautiful - it is about a picture showing a part of Sydney, Australia being blackout for an hour. Aa, that superb environmental friendly hour is called Earth Hour. As always, my environmental friendly Wikipedia is there to help me giving some explanation. By right, you guys can click on the link and it will automatically opens in a new window (or in a new tab preferably).

Wiki: 'Earth Hour is an annual international event started by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Australia in 2007, held on the last Saturday of March, that asks households and businesses to turn off their lights and non-essential electrical appliances for one hour in the evening. The event is promoted by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Australia and the Sydney Morning Herald.'

And guess what? Our Blogger.com owner do participate in the Earth Hour event! (I admit i copied this pictures from Wiki, but i do love Google the most.) This pictures can be seen from the Earth Hour page but unluckily i'm not there to watch either Sydney in black or Google in black. Woohoohoo..

By the way, our Earth Day is fall on April 2nd every year, (it was yesterday!) and hopefully will be continued until the end of time. i wonder if our Malaysian Government will agree to join this help-our-mother nature event someday.

But if, and i say if, another if, and another if, Malaysia will celebrate this Earth Day, i am afraid that the first thing i will heard from our local tv box is about crime. i am quite prejudice about my fellow country mate in Malaysia even i am a true Malaysian. It's just.. if you do live in Malaysia you'll know what i meant. Unless, Malaysian become truly Malaysian, then what i've afraid earlier will never happens. Allah, helps us!

Speaking of Earth Day, (i nearly writing something that is off-the-topic again all over again) it is "one of two different observances, both held annually during spring in the northern hemisphere, and autumn in the southern hemisphere.
These are intended to inspire awareness of and appreciation for the Earth's environment. The United Nations celebrates an Earth Day each year on the March equinox, a tradition which was founded by peace activist John McConnell in 1969.
A second Earth Day, which was founded by U.S. politician Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in in the late 1960s, is celebrated in many countries each year on April 22."

Well, for further reading, i included more links about this Earth Day below:

Earthiness.info : a blog about earth and earthlings

Asus Eee PC >>

.: Moshi-moshi.

Haha. Look on your right side. Is this laptop looks small to you? Too tiny for you? Too white??

Actually this pictures shows you a SUBnotebook (heyhey, lap top and notebook is actually not the same thing?) computer designed by ASUS and Intel. Read on Wiki: 'According to ASUS, the name Eee derives from "the three Es," an abbreviation of their advertising slogan for the device: "Easy to learn, Easy to work, Easy to play". '

This mini-sized dwarfism subNotebook is currently in three models - Eee PC 2G Surf (700), Eee PC 4G Surf (701), Eee PC 8G (701). Each of them differs very slightly in hardware but still maintains the same mini size.

i recalls that before this most of the computer manufacturers are racing their way into producing a super reliable notebook that is super affordable with price tag in the range of $200. i dunno who started this mini-war but their purpose is to provide everyone with at least one computer that can serve them whether for educational purposes, online activities and media interactivity. (Whoa, i manage to write that rhythmic sentence??) But, looking at the Eee PC specifications, it is almost impossible (i do think so) with small memory it had for me to play my S.T.A.L.K.E.R. there. Or is there anyone who ever try doing so?

Mmm, i admit i was a lousy gamer coz when i had my hands on any computer with games that i like, whoa~~ no time to go to toilet, no time to eat, no time to sleep, no time to study, no nothing. (this is the culprit for damaging my eyes, myself!) hohoho.. Time IS precious. Health IS super precious.

So, why i bringing this up? In my post before i do mention about an ASUS laptop that do catch my minds the whole day after i've seen it. That is when i 'pay' a visit to the biennially PIKOM PC fair last month. Hoohoohoo, no money no laptop man. hoohoohoo.. (T,T"')

My Real Credit Card is a "Debit Card" >>

.: Moshi-moshi.

Hye there! Gee, for all this time i thought that once i put my Google AdSense here means there is no room for me at all to put other ads in my blog. But to my surprise, while i was visiting other blogs, i found out that they did put some *foreign ads* with their Google Ads.

Owh? Is that legal?

What i do then (despite having a huge tremendous shock at that moment), i browse again my Goo-Ads TnC/ToS. Yeah, you can (i'm shocked again here) promote your products too in the same page with your Goo-Ads. Laa, haiya! (say sorry to myself, NOW!)

So, what is the fuss all about?

My Debit Card.

According to the free dictionary of Wiki, Debit Card.. "is a plastic card which provides an alternative payment method to cash when making purchases. In most cases: Physically the card is an ISO 7810 card like a credit card; however, its functionality is more similar to writing a cheque as the funds are withdrawn directly from either the cardholder's bank account (often referred to as a cheque card), or from the remaining balance on the card. In other cases: some cards are designed exclusively for use on the Internet, and so there is no physical card. In potential cases, the card may be completely different compared to these two examples."

So, basicaly, there is two kinds of card exists in this small world. (double shock here..) Credit Card and Debit Card. (ops, is there any other type of Credit Cards that i never known before? Please do tell me, haha..)

Hey hey, Debit Card sure is a convenience. If you a type of person who spends-spends-spends-and-forgot-to-save, this Debit Card is a great Guru for you. Your spending is limited, you can only spend with the available money you've top-up in the card before. So, there will never over-sending anymore! Yay! And with it's Credit Card features, hey hey, Debit Card IS convenient! And, to add the convenient factor, i know a Debit Card that you can earn what you've spent. On top of that, this card only costs you RM38 to apply one as it's promotional period end on May 1st. Sounds fishy?? Nope, well, in my next posts, i'll tell you more.

On Hiatus Vacation >>

.: Moshi-moshi.

Hiatus - A break or interruption in the continuity of a work, series, action, etc.

Well well well, its seems like a hundred years when you are unable to do your surfing routine each day.. Aahh, now it is better. I've been offline about 3 to 4 days since last week, as i cannot manage myself to find a transport to go to my library. Hmm, the distance from my home to the library is too faaaaaaar awaaaaaaaaaaay for me to walk by myself - what can i do?

Oh yeah, next week my FiNaL xxam starts: as Statistics being the first war paper. On Apr 28th will be my natural journey, fighting with my Biology, and on May 6th is my last battle with Inorganic Chemistry. Then, my Diploma program will be over - oh, i mean i will be graduating (and celebrating) this diploma. (Cheersie!!)

But, my blogging routine will be suspended until i have my part-time job. If i do ever try to tell my story before, my online routine is from my free library where i take my Diploma. it means that, after this May, i would not be able to carry own my online activities anymore. I have to rely on my money coz our home do not have any internet connection.
(Just now i realize the way i write my post seems to be awkward, eh?)

To continue blogging and downloading, it means that i have to use my own money and surfing using the cyber cafe's here. (My money...?!) (T,T"')huhu.. No worries, i will work hard and hopefully in this year i will able to have my own real desktop computer or laptop with unlimited access to internet. In the meantime, this blog will have some lonely moment and i cannot promise myself to keep blogging and posting as usual. I will try my best to at least to post once every a week.

So, gtg. the Librarian is calling my name.

Adding Widgets >>

.: Moshi-moshi.

Man! it sure tough when you really put your heart into 'remodeling' your blog. So much for an appealing image.. Check it out - give comments if my blog is too cluttered or whatsoever..

By the way, what i do is adding more widgets to my blog. This little blog gadgets is sure helps to attract others to my blog - hope so, hehe..

So, this is my currently widgets site that i have already registered. Feel free to use them as for me these sites never asks about any payment or whatsoever.

Widgetbox
- contains massive and tremendous lists of widgets ready for your blog. This site offers users to make their own widgets.

Cbox
- did you guys notice my chatbox on the right side? i've got two of them - well, i dunno which one is better..

Shoutmix
- the alternate version of chat box ready for your blog.

Feedjit
- 'feed's on your blog, LOL (evil laugh again)

Sitemeter
- i wonder why my blog do not view this meter?? (unpopular blog that is, huhu..) X(

Globetrackr
- tracking you bloggers down to any part of this world.. can it reach Antartic and Antartica??

Criteo
- reads what other bloggers posts

BlogRush
- this one claims it brings traffics to your blog. And the special condition for using this widgets, it supports only English-written blog. Even if i want to write in Bahasa, i better watch out for this, haha..

MyBlogLog
- personally i like this widget the best. You can view who was visiting your blog and that is really nice~~! And now this widget requires Yahoo! ID for users to sign in - pretty much a nuisance when you already opened your Y!mail and when you want to read your other mail, you have to sign in again.

Mashable.com
- lists 50 great widget for your blog.

MyPageRank
- useful to view your blog rank.

And, this is one of my fave widgets site coz everything is totally free here. Want to know where? Just add your blogger.com url to draft.blogger.com and then go to 'customize/layout' and then try to 'add new page element'. Walla! Nice and trendy. i got myself a very handy clock with a calendar. Yeah!

.: Huhuhu..

Undergoing MyBlogLog Verification

This is a trial and error. What i want to do originally is to update my MyBlogLog about my own blog site and the thing that i have to do is to verify it. That site claims that i need to authenticate my ownership..

Well, this is it. Gotta to what it takes. Their widget is good you know.

Alternative Credit Card for PayPal? >>

.: Moshi-moshi!

Haha! Well today is a good day to make some deeds. Good deeds pays you know. This morning, on my way to Uni, i stop by at Maybank to withdraw my money from ASB. Primary reason? To renew my driving license for another 3 months. My IC chip is unusable, so i was directed to our mini Post Office to continue with my withdrawal. My journey there let me encounters a new ways of obtaining a credit card.

Credit card? For what??

Hahaha!! (evil laugh + LOL)

Before this, it was pain-in-the-neck (is it correct?), irritation and a high-blood pressure sypmtom just to find ow to obtain a credit card, even when you are not working. So why in this world do i need a credit card?

PayPal!

Recently, from my reading, Malaysian ban by PayPal has been lifted and users can use their Visa Credit card to verify their PayPal account. There also exists several ways to verify Malaysian account, but by this ban removal, it is become easy for us.

Back to my real main story, in that Post Office, on the notice board there, the staff already pinned an ads about this marvelous card. Colored in red, this quite appealing and mind-blower (hope the term is correct) ads petrify me completely 9really eh?).

Introducing < TuneCard > !
A revolutionary way to have Credit Card on your own! (Even for unemployed one).
Their say:

" With Tune Card, there are no salary requirements, no credit checks, and no calls to your HR manager to find out if in fact, you do work at the company, and by the way, if they could just ask: “how much does Chris actually earn ah?” Since you load your card before you use it (think pre-paid mobile accounts), there are no credit risks. So you can finally use your own card to:
buy that airline ticket;
pay for your petrol;
reload your pre-paid mobile phone;
order that book or DVD you’ve always wanted, online;
download the latest hit onto your computer or MP3 player;
cheat the long queues at the cinema and grab your tickets for the latest blockbuster online;
and even impress your date.
Even if you qualify for a conventional credit card, think how wonderful it would be to finally live within your means, never spending more than you earn. And there´s no financing charges, no late fees to deal with. "

Gee, appealing huh?
Do read the TOS/TaC (terms of services/terms and conditions) first. Mind the payments needed and not all things in this world is free - unless i become multi-Billionaire and then i can provide free things, =)

p/s: as always, me, meself n i aka the author of the blog and the post, hereby wants to declare that i whatsoever do not associate or any terms ends with -ate with the site given above. PIKOM PC FAiR >>

.: Moshi-moshi!

Last week, on Apr 5th, i managed to slip myself into a fair organized by Malaysian Tauke (the truth is i dunno who organize it, but i enjoyed it) at the Permata Carpark Kuching that breezy afternoon. It was a very sunny day actually. On one purpose, clean and clear, just to clean my sorrow eyes there.. No-lah! My humble yet clumsily self just want to have my view on what's hot new gadget in town. There is numerous new laptops, digital cams, printers and also streamyx promotion. Of course i can find DVDs, CDRs, wireless mouse, blahblahblah u-know-what.

No money, no hard-feelings.

Ha Ha Ha (T,T") cries in heart..

On little cutie gadget among all no-money-to-pay things there, i was attracted to this one - one and only - ASUS .. (okay, i forgot the name.). It was so cute, so adorable, so sleek-lah.. Speechless. it is a compact version laptop, which uses Intel processor (and this Intel is the one who make me unable to afford it) and quite a RAM. The drawback (i read it from the brochure) is this laptop only have 4Gb of space? and what i can do with ONLY that amount of tiny space??

But, i do LuRVe ASUS! It's MoBo (motherboard), it's .. (and okay, i forgot all ASUS product again) but one thing that embedded in my mind, ASUS is the best! OverClock, ultimate gaing experience, whoa, i like ASUS more now. There is one game that until now i can't finished it is S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and i found that there is one and only MoBo that built specifically to play this game. The manufacturer is from ASUS - got it? S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a highly tension game with multiple endings, involves more AIs than any other game (of course, compared to the game i've played so far) using only Dx 9. (or is it possible use more AI only with Dx 9?)

By the way, i anticipated the next PIKOM PC Fair. Well, after i got my first job here.

Looking for Available Posts >>

.: Assalamu'alaikum n Moshi-moshi everybody.

Hurmm, it's hard to make a living nowadays if u do not know the proper way to do so. Even looking for a vacancy that fulfills your hearts content is also a difficult job already.

One of my experiences is how i was being fooled by the vacancy being advertised in a local paper yesterday. The vacancy was about a job which is one of my targeted list, and that vacancy do not have any contact number(s), address but only a site on the Net. After i visited the site, i found it was another referral site-'hidden' under the name of vacancy. What a waste of my time.. =(

i have a thought, when i have extra money, i want to double check all of the posts advertised in the paper. i can make calls, check the address and verify it. On the other hand, how about i set up a new blog-specifically for this purpose? Aah, wait, i do not have any money coz in my current financial, i'm unemployed!

Huhuhu.. (T,T")

Online RTM 1>>

.: Moshi-moshi.

Enjoy!

Recently i got this little tiny streaming media of Malaysian RTM 1 somewhere on the Net. i'm still trying to get most of the free Malaysian TV but most of the free online tv streaming requires me to install an IE toolbar, or install some software to my PC. For a person who utilize library's internet, installing it will require an admin password, registering that thing into the registry and blah blah blah.. and i'm only a guest user, haha! Thank God for that.

Anyone out there would like to suggest good free streaming site of Malaysian TV for me? Here is some of mine..

- Free Computer TV , 65 channels

This site need a software installed to enable online TV viewing. personally, i hate installing anything from internet in my PC (even though i don't have one).

- UM.com.my , 16 channels

This site provides with Malaysian (TV 1, TV 2, TV3, Cyberjaya), Brunei (RTB) and Thailand (11 news, Fashion, DMC, Faikham TV, Hip TV, ITV, Ke TV, Money, MV1, MV2, MV3) TVs. But their international TVs are linked to the Free Computer TV (the above site). by the way, the only channel i've tried and it succeed is TV 1 only, hurmm~~

- SopCast ,

Software need to be installed.

- Myp2p.eu ,

i once try Aljazeera and it is quite good. Their TV is sorted by country (Australia, Azerbaijan, Brazil, China, Germany, Spain, France, UK, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Macedonia, Netherlands, Qatar, Romania, Thailand, US)

Watching the box need us to distance away for the sake of our eyes.
